Never Too Many Flowers

"Never Too Many Flowers"
Acrylic
48"x 48"

Large canvas with imaginary florals cascading over parts of the canvas. All sides dripping with paint and impasto thick rich purples, greens and white textures and color. Filled with expressive movement and beautiful fairy land imaginary botanical. A subtle lace pattern on the lower layer to show through under the petals.

The focal point to any space you can almost smell the perfume from the petals.

Darlene uses her signature paint dripping flowing in several areas from the (almost feel wet) petals.
If you love flowers and you love something that is one and only you will absolutely fall in love with

-Audrey Hepburn

Don't you agree that there are never too many flowers?

"There are always flowers for those that want to see them"

There are always stories behind the artist and the art. The story behind this painting with its sandy hues blues and grey blues goes like this.

"You are an 11-year-old boy that sees his world as magical without any blemishes. Everything around you is filled with love and excitement. Then your parents say they are not going to be together any longer. You walk around like you are in a trace and your world shatters before your eyes.

A big wave has come in and torn everything apart.

We always have to remember that sometimes something wild and uncomfortable has to happen to make space for the magic to return.
That is what that little 11 year old boy was told.

Then It All Fell Into Place

I have been having a lot of fun with my imagination and placing shapes and lines with layers of paint, markers, oil pastel sometimes along with ink. I love working on paper and this large piece is a 48"x 24" paper piece. I love working abstractly and I paint with my emotions. When I feel the piece is completed whether it is botanical or lines and shapes expressionistic abstract I simply stop painting.

There are always several layers on my art and a mixing of hues on the canvas or the palette before I place on the canvas. I have favourite brushes but I often get so involved with my painting that I simply apply with my hands.

Colour and expression are two key components in my art and I had a collector tell me once she felt like she could feel my heartbeat in the work.
I love that and have used that line to describe me painting.

"Then It All Fell Into Place"

"And then it just happened and there was so much excitement. You can have so much turmoil and your soul can be hurting but then it all falls into place and there is a calm."

In A Moment a study and a donation for Polio

I try to donate several paintings each year depending on how things go. Here are some that have been donated to great causes.

An abstract with the hues of EndPolioNow along with the colours of Rotary International.
It was a busy time for me as I also had four Luminescence Paintings donated for ALS at the same time.

Acrylic on canvas

The painting to #endpolionow was 30"x 30" and had a similar circular moment but with a bit less purple and a larger area of white layers with violet undertones. Of course, the blue and yellow areas are to signify Rotary of which I belong here in my home town.

Big Crush Yellow Submarine

Part of her life in younger years Jennifer always had a favorite Beatle that she had a crush on. A big crush. Paul. There might have been four of them but that was definitely her personal favorite.
Large unstretched acrylic and ink on canvas measuring 72"x 81".

This is the largest abstract I have completed to date. Several layers of blended soft hues on the left gently becoming more vibrant and dramatic towards the right and lower corner. Easily stretched to be painted on all sides with at least 2" deep canvas. A show piece and focal for any space.
